2008 and earlier used wet clutch 6 speed dsg which are slightly better than the later ones with dry clutches. If you want reliability avoid VW products altogether

My father had a VW Passat MK6 and had nothing but problems with it , he also paid for a new ECU which he shouldn’t have because there was a recall however AC VW branch said there wasn’t a recall and he paid £750 and still had problems , VW reliability has well gone !

As time goes by, there are more and more EV's which have completed half-a-million miles on the original battery. At the UK average of 12,000 per year, this equates to just over 40 years. I should be so lucky to still be alive in 40 years. Since depreciation is only an issue when you come to sell the vehicle, who is bothered? Ours is costing us marginally less than 2 pence per mile. Why would I want to change back to an ICE vehicle? If people want to believe all the misinformation about EV's and continue paying through the nose to run an ICE car, let them get on with it.

If you don't buy the cheapest junk, it's not that expensive 😁 even though it's an old car and the design is a few years old, it's still beautiful and a head turner today. The mistake many people make is to buy a cheap R8 and think that the maintenance and spare parts are also cheap. But it's the opposite, the spare parts have become more and more expensive over the years.

Good review, but just a couple of points. 1. The locking fuel flap is not a common feature across all new Hondas. The Jazz does not have a separate lever in the cabin. Once the car is unlocked, so is the fuel flap. 2. The HRV in common with some other Hondas may be described as having an ECVT gearbox, but the reality is that it does not have a gearbox. The electric motor and petrol engine drive through a single gear, albeit a different single gear in each case. In fact this transmission is a true marvel.
